Reddy Women’s College: Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Women’s College was established in 1954 by Hyderabad Mahila Vidhya Sangham (HMVS) — a non-profit educational society with a vision to empower women through quality education. The College is the second oldest women’s college in the city of Hyderabad. The College owes its existence to the foresight of Sri. Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy, Kotwal (Commissioner of Police) of the erstwhile Hyderabad State, who believed that modern education was the only way of empowering women.
The College had the rare privilege of welcoming Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who laid the Foundation Stone on 3rd January 1954; Dr. S. Radha Krishnan, former President of India, who inaugurated the College building on 6th January 1955; and Smt. Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister, who inaugurated the Hostel Building on 28th July 1965.
